[The present and future of rehabilitation medicine]

The paper deals with some problems of rehabilitation medicine which is within various medical specialties the prototype of an interdisciplinary discipline. It deals with contemporary aspects such as the methodical and rehabilitation complex of procedures and techniques used in rehabilitation programmes. The author speaks of physiatrization of rehabilitation and draws attention to the multidimensional approach, whereby he also pays attention to the unitarian aspect of the concept of disease. The future development of rehabilitation medicine is characterized by space with a great explosion of professional information, modern technique and new biotechnologies and a changed panorama of diseases. This complex will call for a different modified approach with an accent on the target effect--to ensure a high quality of life of the chronically sick, and those threatened with disability and permanent damage. It submits the model of triangulation characterized by three elements--the doctor, patient and possible routes of communication between doctors and patients.
