Pictorial reminiscence: a proposed project for a long-term care facility
Abstract:
Pictorial reminiscence could be adapted and applied in many different settings such as community centres or an individual's home. Recording the process and content might add to the body of literature on the importance of certain ages, personal and/or historical events, object relations, and/or personality development over the lifespan. As Moody (1988) says "the purpose of life history messages is far broader than our tools are likely to capture." The author suggests evaluating the project outcome by examining the interaction patterns mentioned initially. The resident's morale, self-esteem, functional and social behaviours before and after the use of pictorial reminiscence, could also provide pertinent information on the usefulness of the project. The author would be interested in hearing from any person/persons who implement this project.
