Two anesthetic techniques for living donor hepatectomy (LDH) were equally safe and effective. Both methods ensured donor safety, rapid recovery, and short hospital stays, offering viable alternatives for liver transplantation.

Main Results:

  • No perioperative mortality observed in either group.
  • No significant differences in demographics, surgery/anesthesia duration, hospital stay, hemodynamics, blood loss, or liver function tests (PT, AST, ALT).
  • No blood transfusions were required.

Conclusions:

  • Both anesthetic techniques are well-tolerated for living donor hepatectomy.
  • Procedures offer a safe alternative to cadaveric liver transplantation with fast-track recovery.
  • Transient metabolic liver function impairment noted, but overall safe discharge from PACU and short hospital stay achieved.
