[Hearing loss after lumbar myelography].

Summary

Myelography can cause hearing loss. An epidural blood patch effectively treated severe bilateral hearing loss following a lumbar puncture, offering a recommended therapeutic option.

Background:

Myelography is a diagnostic imaging procedure.
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage can occur after dural puncture.

Observation:

A patient experienced severe bilateral hearing loss (-60 dB) after myelography.
The hearing loss was associated with potential cerebrospinal fluid loss.

Findings:

An epidural blood patch procedure was performed.
Complete recovery of hearing occurred after the epidural blood patch.

Implications:

Epidural blood patch is a viable treatment for hearing loss post-lumbar puncture.
This procedure offers a recommended therapeutic option for related tinnitus and hearing deficits.
