Summary

A thenar lipoma, a benign tumor on the thumb side of the hand, caused nerve issues. Surgical removal resolved the symptoms and recurrence.

Background:

Lipomas are common benign tumors, but thenar lipomas can cause unique symptoms due to their location.
Altered sensation in the thumb and index finger can significantly impact hand function.

Observation:

A 40-year-old woman presented with a thenar lipoma causing sensory disturbances in the adjacent digital nerves.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was crucial for accurate diagnosis and surgical planning.

Findings:

Surgical excision of the thenar lipoma was performed.
Postoperatively, the patient experienced a complete return of sensation.
No evidence of tumor recurrence was observed at the 12-month follow-up.
