Chronic pharyngitis refers to persistent inflammation of the pharyngial mucosa.
Etiology

Background:

Tonsillectomy is a common ENT procedure for chronic tonsillitis and sleep apnea in children.
Tonsillar hyperplasia often regresses naturally after age six.
Laser surgery presents an alternative for reducing tonsil bulk.

Observation:

Children with bilateral tonsillar hyperplasia underwent laser tonsillotomy.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) laser was used to dissect the tonsillar mass.
The tonsillar bed was intentionally left untouched during the procedure.

Findings:

Laser tonsillotomy successfully reduced the bulk of enlarged tonsils.
The procedure was evaluated based on intraoperative and postoperative conditions.
This technique offers a minimally invasive approach to tonsil reduction.

Implications:

Laser tonsillotomy may be a viable alternative to traditional tonsillectomy for specific pediatric cases.
Further research can explore long-term efficacy and patient-reported outcomes.
This approach could refine surgical management of pediatric tonsillar hyperplasia.
