[Bone augmentation of dental implant treatment]

Vertical and horizontal augmentation of the alveolar bone is often necessary to the placement of dental implants in inadequate bone volume areas. This article introduces surgical techniques (autogenous bone graft, maxillary sinus floor elevation, guided bone regeneration, distraction osteogenesis) for the reconstruction of atrophic bone prior to or simultaneous with implant placement.
