Tornwaldt's cyst: incidence and a case report.

Background:

Tornwaldt's cyst is an uncommon nasopharyngeal cyst.
It can cause significant clinical symptoms.

Observation:

A review of 31,855 CT scans and 21,158 MRI scans identified 32 incidental Tornwaldt's cysts.
The incidence was 0.013% on CT and 0.13% on MRI, with an overall rate of 0.06%.

Findings:

The most common indications for imaging were headache, seizures, dizziness/vertigo, and pharyngeal symptoms.
A case of symptomatic Tornwaldt's cyst resolved after endoscopic marsupialization.

Implications:

Tornwaldt's cyst is a rare but treatable cause of various symptoms.
It should be considered in otolaryngology practice.
