[Radical prostatectomy for prostate carcinoma with ectopic ureter ; a case report]

Background:

• A 71-year-old male presented with urinary frequency (pollakisuria).
• Initial evaluation included prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing and needle biopsy, confirming moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the prostate.
• Imaging revealed a rare congenital anomaly: a right complete duplicated upper urinary system with an ectopic ureter terminating in the prostatic urethra.

Observation:

• The patient underwent radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer.
• A concomitant ureteroureterostomy was performed to address the ectopic ureter.
• Post-operative follow-up at 11 months showed no evidence of hydronephrosis or tumor recurrence.

• This report describes the successful surgical management of a patient with co-existing prostate adenocarcinoma and an ectopic ureter.
