Herd immunity and pneumococcal conjugate vaccine: a quantitative model

Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) in children significantly reduced invasive pneumococcal disease in unvaccinated older children and adults through herd effects. Even incomplete vaccination schedules demonstrated substantial indirect protection against vaccine-type serotypes.
