Abstract:
Brownian dynamics simulations are used to study highly entangled solutions of semiflexible polymers. Bending fluctuations of semiflexible rods are significantly affected by entanglement only above a concentration c(**), where c(**) approximately 10(3)L(-3) for chains of length L similar to their persistence length. For c>c(**), the tube radius R(e) approaches a dependence R(e) proportional to c(-35) and the linear viscoelastic response develops an elastic plateau that is absent for c

Consider two children sitting on a seesaw, which has negligible mass. The first child has a mass (m1) of 26 kg and sits at point A, which is 1.6 meters (r1) from the pivot point B; the second child has a mass (m2) of 32 kg and sits at point C. How far from the pivot point B should the second child sit (r2) to balance the seesaw?
