[Topographic-anatomical features of the thyroid gland according to computer tomography data]
Abstract:
Intravital neck computer tomography images were studied in 140 persons aged from 20 to 75 years without the thyroid gland pathology. Considerable individual variability of the topographical features was noted in tomographic images obtained at the same level, as well as the clear-cut age-related changes of the thyroid gland. Morphometric studies of the thyroid gland was performed, and their results were used to establish the average quantitative parameters of the organ. Gender-related differences were found in thyroid gland tomographic sections. Age-related changes of the average distances between the thyroid gland and the neighboring organs and blood vessels were detected. It is suggested that the results of computer tomographic study provide the data on thyroid gland intravital anatomy and topography.
