The epidemiology, etiology, peculiarities of the clinical course of surgical infection (SI) and immune status in children aged from 0 to 15 years were investigated in 1970-2003. The results of the investigation are presented. The significance of evolution of the pathogenic agents and of the organism's resistance in the appearance of specific features of the clinical course of SI in childhood is discussed.
