Abstract:
This article outlines a training needs analysis to identify the mathematical confidence levels of qualified staff working in a large, acute NHS trust. A risk scoring tool was developed to gauge the confidence levels of nursing staff using drug calculations in their clinical areas. This now forms part of the organisation's risk assessment strategy and a learning tool has been developed for intravenous therapy study days.
