Major depressive disorder (MDD) is linked to altered 5-HT1A receptor binding. This study found reduced nuclear deformed epidermal autoregulatory factor (NUDR) and 5-HT1A receptor protein in female MDD patients, suggesting a gender-specific biological mechanism.
