Abstract:
Both exotamponade and endotamponade have application in retinal detachment surgery in order to reattache the retina. Exotamponades include silicone buckles and bands. Endotamponades include substances replacing the vitreous: gases and liquids. In this paper physical characteristics of the most frequently used as endotamponade polymeric liquid substances are presented. Advantages and disadvantages of each of them are listed.
