Abstract:
Strawberry crinkle virus was maintained through 6 consecutive serial passages by needle inoculation of the aphid vector, Chaetosiphon jacobi. A dilution factor of at least 10(-3) at each passage, coupled with a high rate of successful inoculation (ca. 90%) and a stable incubation period, indicated that the virus titer was being maintained by multiplication in the aphid.
