Pressure sores: an overview and update

Pressure sores are expensive and difficult to treat complications of immobility and the incidence of these lesions will increase as the population ages. Modalities for prevention and treatment are numerous but physicians often are not familiar with products available and lack a systematic approach to patients with pressure sores. This paper reviews factors involved with the formation of pressure sores and treatment modalities currently available.
