  • Fine needle aspiration (FNA) smears were diagnostic of a hydatid cyst.
  • The case presented as an unusual intra-abdominal solid mass with hepatic indentation.
  • Radiological appearance mimicked malignancy.

  • Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a highly sensitive and rapid method for diagnosing hydatid cysts.
  • Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective management of hydatid disease.
