Structural abnormalities of endoscopy-negative reflux disease--real or perceived?

Structural changes in the esophagus are not specific to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or endoscopy-negative reflux disease (NERD). However, these changes are reversible with proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy, highlighting their clinical significance.
