The traditional classification of hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) into acute, subacute, and chronic stages lacks clinical support. Cluster analysis revealed two distinct patient groups, challenging the existing HP staging system.

- The subacute stage of HP is particularly challenging to define and differentiate based on clinical features.
