Background:

Breast ptosis and volume deficiency are common concerns addressed by mammaplasty.
Traditional augmentation mammaplasty often involves implants, which carry potential risks.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe and evaluate the autoaugmentation mammaplasty technique for breast enhancement and ptosis correction.
To assess the efficacy of using an autologous dermoglandular flap for breast augmentation.

Main Methods:

Autoaugmentation mammaplasty was performed on 27 patients between 2002 and 2007.
An inferior-based flap of deepithelialized dermoglandular tissue was used, inserted beneath the breast parenchyma of a superior-based nipple-areolar complex pedicle.

Main Results:

The technique successfully corrected breast ptosis while increasing projection and apparent volume.
Inframammary fold (IMF) descent generally paralleled nipple descent, with the IMF positioned below the nipple postoperatively.
Optimal breast shape and projection were largely achieved.

Conclusions:

Autoaugmentation mammaplasty is an effective technique for improving breast shape and volume.
This implant-free method offers a viable solution for breast enhancement and ptosis correction.
The procedure optimizes breast aesthetics without the need for prosthetic materials.
