Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify the clinical and ocular motility characteristics of periodic and aperiodic IAPAN.
  • To establish the range of electrophysiological and clinical features.
  • To provide insights into the presence and pathophysiology of IAPAN.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 78 patients with IAPAN.
  • Evaluation of variables including age, vision, strabismus, head position, periodicity, null period duration, and waveforms.

Main Results:

  • 50% of patients presented with pure periodic and aperiodic forms.
  • High prevalence of strabismus (72%) and anomalous head posture (87%).
  • Periodic cycles averaged 224 seconds; aperiodic cycles ranged from 2 to over 300 seconds.
