[The functional state of liver in patients with major beta-thalassemia]
Abstract:
The current research was conducted to study the functional state of liver in patients with homozygous beta-thalassemia. Complex research of liver structure and function was conducted in 118 beta-thalassemia patients. It was found that during homozygous beta-thalassemia the liver is involved in pathologic process. The research revealed the abnormalities in protein and pigment exchanges, increase of serum activity of ferments with various intracellular allocations, confirming the deep injury in hepatocyte's microstructure. It is assumed the presence of injured liver in patients with cytolitic syndrome. The dominance of cholestatic syndrome is reported in some patients.
