Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) significantly impairs endothelial function, as measured by brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD). Recovery from exacerbation restores FMD to normal levels, suggesting a reversible impact on vascular health.
