[Tracheal reconstruction in 29 canines using allograft--a surgical technique]

We have been performing the tracheal reconstruction using allograft in 29 canines, and have obtained favorable results. In this paper, the details of the surgical technique of tracheal reconstruction are described. Important points for achieving technical success are the following: 1) good anesthetic control during operation, 2) proper anastomoses between recipient's trachea and the graft, 3) use of the omental pedicle flap for wrapping around the anastomotic portion.
