Association between reduced ADAMTS13 and diabetic nephropathy

Reduced levels of ADAMTS13, an enzyme that cleaves von Willebrand factor, are linked to diabetic nephropathy progression. Lower ADAMTS13 antigen is associated with poorer kidney function and increased carotid intima-media thickness in type 2 diabetes patients.

- Lower ADAMTS13 levels may play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy and macroangiopathy.
