[Reflections after forty years of nosocomial infections]
Abstract:
The nosocomial infections continue being a reason of a high morbidity, sometimes mortality, of the patients who are present for another reason at the hospitable services. The author, who possesses a long experience of fourty years in this topic, revises the current situation of the nosocomial infections, its prevalence and the intrinsic factors of risk and extrinsic causes of these pictures, according to the last information of the EPINE (Study of the Prevalence of the Nosocomial Infections in Spain). There are studied the most frequent locations of the infections and the role that the Units of Intensive Care (of adults and children) play in the same ones. Is outlined the appearance of the legal appeared responsibilities as consequence of a bad medical practice, and the need of protocols of diagnosis and treatment, to demonstrate that the actions of the sanitary personnel are done according to lex artis.
