Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is more common in hypertensive patients with mild-to-moderate kidney dysfunction. This association between LV mass and declining kidney function is independent of other risk factors.

- A significant trend of increasing LV mass (indexed by BSA and height^2.7) was observed with declining GFR.
- LVH prevalence was higher in patients with lower GFR, remaining significant after adjusting for confounders.
- Multiple regression confirmed an independent inverse association between GFR and LV mass.

- Mild-to-moderate renal dysfunction is associated with a high prevalence of LVH in hypertensive patients.
- The link between LV mass and GFR was independent of confounders like 24-hour blood pressure load.
- Further research is needed to understand LVH development mechanisms in chronic kidney disease.
