Abstract:
Antimalarial medications are effective for the treatment of a variety of dermatologic conditions. Their use is often curtailed by concern for adverse reactions, including ophthalmologic side effects; however, recent evidence points to a greater margin of safety with these medications than was previously appreciated. This article reviews the pharmacology of antimalarial medications as well as indications and safe guidelines for their use in the treatment of dermatologic conditions.
