Abstract:
The influence of the geometrical shape and of the material properties on articular surfaces in partly contacting joints have been studied with a computerized simulation model. The size of articular surface, maximal pressure in the joint cleft and the flattening of the joint bodies during articulation above all will depend on transmitted force, geometrical shape and on the material properties of the cartilage.
