Documentation of Nursing Diagnosis

The nurse documents nursing diagnoses and enters them into the patient record. The identified patient's nursing diagnosis is either written out with a plan of care or entered into the electronic health record.

Background:

Warthin tumor, or papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum, is a common parotid gland neoplasm.
Its characteristic morphology involves benign lymphoid and epithelial components, often in intraparotid lymph nodes.
Multifocal, bilateral, and malignant Warthin tumors, as well as associations with other cancers, have been reported.

Observation:

This study details three patients with Warthin tumors.
One patient had squamous cell carcinoma and a Warthin tumor.
Two patients presented with monoclonal gammopathy and high 18F-FDG uptake in the parotid gland.

Findings:

Clinical presentation of Warthin tumors can mimic other lesions, leading to diagnostic and decision-making errors.
Accurate histopathologic evaluation is crucial for appropriate patient management.
Atypical presentations necessitate careful consideration of differential diagnoses.

Implications:

Highlights the importance of considering Warthin tumor in the differential diagnosis of parotid gland lesions.
