  • MHA was used as an augmentation material at test sites; control sites received no augmentation.
  • Histomorphometric analysis was performed after 4 months of submerged healing.
  • Main Results:

    • One control implant failed to integrate; 5 test and 5 control implants were evaluated.
    • Bone resorption was observed at both test and control sites.
    • Buccal alveolar crest outline maintenance was slightly better in MHA sites (0.7 mm loss) vs. control (1.2 mm loss), but not statistically significant.

    Conclusions:

    • MHA augmentation did not significantly enhance the maintenance of the buccal alveolar bone crest contours.
    • Further research may be needed to explore MHA's role in immediate implant procedures.
    • Bone resorption remains a challenge in immediate implant placement, even with augmentation.
