Background:

Delegation is crucial for nursing efficiency.
Understanding RNs' delegation practices is vital.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess registered nurses' (RNs) delegation practices and knowledge.
To explore factors influencing delegation based on Benners' Novice to Expert theory.

Main Methods:

A survey was distributed to Texas Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) members.
Data from 73 respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests.
Benners' Novice to Expert theory guided the analysis of experience, certification, and education.

Main Results:

Delegation knowledge does not always align with actual practice among RNs.
Differences in delegation practices were observed between certified rehabilitation registered nurses (CRRNs) and non-CRRNs.
93.7% of participants indicated a need for further discussion on delegation.

Conclusions:

RNs' delegation knowledge may not consistently translate into practice.
Further research and discussion are warranted to improve delegation processes in nursing.
Understanding the nuances of delegation is essential for effective nursing care.
