Does contrast agent injection during trans-catheter aortic valve implantation negatively affect kidney function?

Trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in elderly patients with renal impairment does not appear to significantly reduce kidney function or cause contrast-induced nephropathy, despite contrast use.

Conclusions:
- TAVI, including contrast administration, does not appear to cause significant renal function decline.
- Elderly patients with severe aortic valve stenosis and renal compromise did not develop contrast-induced nephropathy after TAVI.
