Abstract:
The results of endovascular treatment of symptomatic intracranial arteriosclerotic stenosis with stenosis grades exceeding 70% show a mortality rate of 2% and severe morbidity of 8.3%. This justifies treatment being performed by experienced interventionalists only in selected cases, if the prospective outcome of pharmacotherapy alone indicates a higher risk (i.e., symptomatic stenosis, severe perfusion disturbances).
