Endoscopic Approach for Colloid Cyst Resection

[Treatment of maxillary cyst with endoscopic fenestration in nasal bottom]

Objective:
To explore the feasibility of treatment of maxillary cyst with only fenestration in nasal bottom by nasal endoscope.
Method:
Eighteen patients with maxillary cyst manifested with facial swelling or hard palate bulging were diagnosed by CT scan and needle aspiration biopsy, and then underwent cystic fenestration operations with the tooth in cyst kept intact.
Result:
After over 2 years follow-up with endoscope (partly CT scanned), recurrent infection was not noticed in all cases, contour of maxilla was well preserved with ostium patent and cystic cavity markedly shrinks.
Conclusion:
Endoscopic fenestration in nasal bottom only is a safe, reliable, and effective procedure in the treatment of maxillary cyst.
