Predictable criteria for selective, rather than routine, calcium supplementation following thyroidectomy

Selective calcium supplementation after thyroidectomy can prevent unnecessary treatment. Patients with parathyroid hormone levels < 6 pg/mL or calcium levels < 8 mg/dL post-surgery may benefit from targeted calcium and vitamin D intake.
