Air transport of the trauma patient

Flight nursing is a rapidly growing field in critical care nursing. An understanding of the types of trauma patients that warrant helicopter transport is important to any well functioning trauma system. The assessments and interventions necessary in transporting trauma patients are addressed. Safety, environmental, and psychosocial issues that surround the use of air transport are discussed.
