Diverticular disease is a chronic disorder that can significantly impact quality of life, and incidence of this disease is increasing. This article outlines the history, incidence, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and nursing management of patients with diverticular disease. Tools to assist with patient education and resources for spiritual care, inner healing needs, and support with healthy lifestyle choices are provided.
