Abstract:
As an adult, being confined to bed is associated with an abnormal state of tiredness or illness. Elderly people can spend hours or even days in their bed. Is old age therefore an illness? However, as ageing is a physiological process is it not rather the bed confinement which is pathological? What quality of life do elderly people confined to bed have?
