Risk factors for pseudogout in the general population

Pseudogout risk is linked to hyperparathyroidism, osteoarthritis, and loop diuretics. Rheumatoid arthritis and thiazide diuretics were not associated, but chronic renal failure was. Avoiding loop diuretics may help prevent recurrent pseudogout.
