Abstract:
Tim is a 17-year-old white, male adolescent who exhibited extreme social isolation and was unresponsive to multiple forms of treatment. Staff members had conflicting views about the nature of Tim's difficulties; these conflicting views indicated their loss of objectivity. Using client-centered case consultation and single-case research design, the consultant helped staff members regain their objectivity so they might intervene to reduce Tim's social isolation.
