Selectivity of attrition in longitudinal studies of cognitive functioning

Participants who continue in longitudinal studies often have higher cognitive abilities and certain personality traits, but this attrition doesn't necessarily skew the study's findings on aging. Longitudinal comparisons remain generalizable despite selective participant dropout.
