- A high proportion of blood cultures for common pediatric inpatient diagnoses yield negative or false-positive results.
- Clinically significant true-positive results are infrequent, suggesting potential overutilization of blood cultures.
- These findings highlight opportunities to refine blood culture ordering practices in pediatric care.
