Team dynamics through a gendered lens: ten research findings
Abstract:
Is your medical practice team comprised mostly or entirely of one gender? If so, how is your team's gender composition affecting its performance? This article shares 10 research findings about gender composition and team expectations and behaviors, and provides questions to help the reader apply those findings to his or her medical practice team. It offers nine strategies for building gender-inclusive teams and a six-question quiz to help practice managers determine whether their teams are gender-inclusive. It provides 10 questions to help practice managers assess and critically evaluate the gender composition of their medical practice teams. Finally, this article explores the link between a team's gender diversity and its performance.
