Summary

Phage-open-reading frame typing (POT) shows higher discriminatory power than repetitive-sequence-based PCR for studying methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. This makes POT a reliable tool for accurate epidemiological surveillance of MRSA.
