Abstract:
This review updates our present state of knowledge with regard to platelet-specific alloantigens, i.e. Zwa/Zwb (PlAl/PlA2), Baka/Bakb, Koa/Kob, Yuka/Yukb (Penb/Pena), Bra/Brb, Nak, Sib, and summarizes relevant immunogenetical and biochemical data. The impact of corresponding platelet-specific antibodies in clinical conditions such as neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia, posttransfusion purpura, and the refractory state of platelet transfusions is reviewed with particular emphasis on our own case material.
