Background:

  • Primary spinal epidural Hodgkin's lymphoma is an exceptionally rare neoplastic disease.
  • Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are crucial for managing spinal cord compression.

Observation:

  • A case report details a 30-year-old male with a T9-11 level spinal epidural tumor.
  • Histological examination confirmed Hodgkin's lymphoma, with no evidence of disseminated disease.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent subtotal tumor resection followed by six cycles of chemotherapy (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine).
  • Hodgkin's lymphoma is highly sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Implications:

  • While surgery is primary for spinal cord compression, its role is diminishing for Hodgkin's lymphoma.
  • Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are increasingly central, with surgery often limited to biopsy or laminectomy.
