[Intrapulmonary schwannoma presenting as a primary lung cancer]

A 61-year-old woman was referred to the hospital by her general practitioner due to non-response to antibiotic treatment. By chest X-ray and subsequently CT scan a 9 cm tumour was detected in the right upper lobe. In addition, severe destruction of the corpus of Th2, Th3 and Th4 was found. A biopsy revealed a schwannoma. Surgery with curative intent was subsequently made, and a 10 × 10 cm big process was removed. The patient had an uneventfull recovery.
